Self Paced Junior Economics with Mr. D Math

Mr. D Math has been a staple in our homeschool journey since I did my first review of their live math program. They have added self-paced courses to their catalog and this momma is jumping for joy. With our great experience, I couldn’t resist the chance to offer you guys a full review of the new self-paced offerings. This is a sponsored post. All opinions are honest – as always. This semester we decided to add the Mr. D Math Junior Economics course for our eighth grader. This course has been a win-win for mom and kiddo.

Why a Junior Economics course?

If your are new to my corner of the internet, I am teacher, homeschool mom with 4 kids, and entrepreneur. Between home and work obligations I run this blog, create educational resources, and provide parent coaching – I am an entrepreneur ( a few times over). At this point, my older kids do almost all of their work in tutorials and online courses (including Mr.D Math)

Why does that matter? I’m so glad you asked ;-). The Junior Economics class theme is “Today’s Students are Tomorrow’s Business Leaders!” . My hope is that it will begin to grow the business mindset of my kiddo (he is already looking for ways to make money and “diversity his income streams”).

Self Paced Online Courses are Easy to Integrate

Just to be clear – I KNEW he needed some skills and an opportunity to explore in this area but this momma is completely out of time and energy. It was time to call in a relief pitcher. That was exactly what Mr. D was! Funny how things just seem to happen at the right time.

We were able to seamlessly incorporate this self paced course into our homeschool week WITHOUT any more work for me. There are no live meetings for this course so we could literally fit it in as needed. I have three beauties still at home and between family and work obligations that one more thing would literally be the speck of dust that makes it all fall apart.

He is pretty self sufficient as an eight grader. He handles his log in and I’m able to just do periodic check ins (we do ours on Mondays). Not the most organized or regimented person(like me)? No worries – Mr. D Math sends reminder emails to remind you to check in with your student.
