Successful Homeschooling Made Easy
Successful Homeschooling Made Easy
Guys I think there is a key to success in every area of our lives and it is not any different when we think of homeschooling. The key is momentum. If you are looking for the solution to successful homeschooling made easy – creating, buidling, and keeping momentum are how it is done.
We’ve all been there. I can’t tell you how many years I’ve found myself totally burned out just a few weeks into the new school year. You started all excited and were able to keep that energy for a couple weeks, but excitement and caffeine can’t keep you going long term. The thing is that it is really easy to look for a shiny new thing to do instead of the curriculum you’ve been using because it obviously isn’t working. Except if you do that you will probably find yourself right back where you are in another few weeks. When the new excitement wears off again.

Are you bored already? You can still have a successful homeschool year.
This is called habit boredom. It is momentum’s enemy. Everything starts going well and suddenly people stop doing what they were doing.
They are bored. In the case of homeschooling, this boredom might be the routine, the curriculum is not challenging enough, it is too challenging, their socks are itchy, etc.
This is great chance to teach kids that sometimes we have to sacrifice our wants in the short term to gain our long term wants. What a valuable lesson!
One process is to think about how to accomplish your goal rather than asking if you CAN do it. We will talk more about that in a minute.
Momentum is about doing when you don’t really want to now in order to achieve what you want long term. Let’s talk about how we create momentum in our school year.
9 Surefire Ways to Build Momentum

1. Commit to the Process
Where momentum is concerned, there are no half measures. You’re either all in or forget it. With this in mind, take a long hard look at your school year. Are you committed to educating the kids this year? Then you commit to finding the solution to make it work. There is no quitting. That alone will set the foundation for building commitment. You aren’t always going to want to do it.
2. Understand Your Why
There is a reason that you chose to homeschool this year. My suggestion is to keep a list handy. Don’t think that one reason will be enough. Make a list of 20 reasons that homeschool was the choice you made. Write it down. Put it on your phone. You may need to refer to it often. This will help you maintain your commitment.
3. Visualize Your Day
Start with seeing what your ideal day, week, or month would look like. So many times, we don’t give our brain a clear direction about what would make a really good day.

4. Schedule Yourself (Homeschool Routines Included)
There are only 24 hours in a day. How are you planning on spending them? Make time for what’s important. Momentum needs a commitment on the calendar to keep you in motion. Don’t think you will fit homeschooling in. Make the time for it just like you do all the other activities in your life. It is really tempting to take advantage of all the opportunities. Don’t do that. Creating a morning routine to help set you up for homeschool success.
5. Create Homeschool Goals for the Year
Think about what you want to have accomplished at the end of the year. I’ve never met a parent that says that they hope their child doesn’t progress throughout the school year. Create academic goals but don’t discount life skills, hobbies, or extracurriculars. Consider creating visions boards or setting a day aside to talk about goals with the kids. Make sure to create goals for yourself for the year as well.

6. Let Go of Fears
Fears stop momentum cold. Take time to understand what you’re afraid of and question it. My last podcast on the first week has some tips on creating a helpful mindset.
7. Create Your Best You
Yes, you. This is so important it’s being mentioned twice. Here’s where you want to drop harmful habits and acquaintances who bring you down. Surround yourself with things designed to bring out your best, physically, mentally, and emotionally.
8. Create a Community
Momentum thrives off of positive input. Find people who are willing to support you and even mentor you along the way. Use them to keep you motivated and encouraged. There will be days where they are essential.

9. Check IN with Yourself
Once you’ve created momentum, remember to keep it going. Check-in with yourself using these tips. By staying on top of things, your momentum will push you to new heights.
Putting it together.
Keep in mind that you are looking for progress and not perfection. Homeschooling successfully made easy is really a process. Give yourself grace while you learn to create, build, and keep momentum in your homeschool.
