Online Spanish For Your Homeschool
I took French in high school. I don’t know why. When we were in Guatemala City waiting to meet our brand new son and his foster parents, I was sincerely questioning our ability to communicate as we were going down the elevator. My husband had a few words of Spanish from high school. He assured me we could communicate enough.
We got off the elevator and there they were and our little guy was so tiny and precious and my husband completely blanked. Eventually, we got it all worked out and we got our hands on that tiny bundle. That experience made it very clear how important learning basic Spanish would become in our lives.

Why a foreign language?
If your kid is looking at college, 2 years of foreign language is an expectation. Exposure to different languages and cultures help to expand a person’s mind and gives them an appreciation for life outside their own comfort zone. It also gives them some flexibility to travel and see the world.
Not to mention the academic benefits that kids see as a result of early exposure to a second language. There really aren’t any cons to learning a foreign language. Pig-latin doesn’t count.
The best part for me is that my own limitations in Spanish don’t hold my kids back. They are having fun teaching me.
