Last Minute 4th of July Craft

last minute 4th of July CraftHello Everyone! I know many of you may be getting ready to celebrate the 4th of July.   This is the holiday that we host and we will be having a ton of people over to celebrate.

I wanted to share a quick 4th of July craft that you could do with the kids to help them stay entertained and still feel like part of the fun.  The best part (like the image above suggests) is that you probably already have all of the supplies. Score!!!

We are NOT crafty at my house.  After years of complaining, I mostly stopped trying then enter our toddler who already adores all things crafty and artsy.  This is one of the few I did when my boys were much younger that was a hit, so I decided to do it again.

It only takes about 15 minutes of prep time and that is a must at my house. My older son (11)  HATES crafts, but he participated without too much grumbling.

What did we do?  Our last minute 4th of July craft was noodle stamp fireworks.  My toddler to tween age kids did this fun craft, and two out of three enjoyed it immensely.  I may actually do a few more things since this was such a success (my bar is low).

Supply List:

fireworks 1

  1. hot glue gun or adhesive
  2. cardboard
  3. duct tape
  4. pasta (I used penne pasta.)
  5. paint
  6. something to put the paint on (I used paper plates.)
  7. paper
  8. glitter (optional)
Instructions
  1. Hot glue the noodles to the cardboard.  I lay them out in a spiral shape. fireworks 3
  2. Make duct tape handles for the noodle stamps.  I pull off a long piece of duct tape and then fold it over on itself.  I loop that into a small circle.  Then I take another piece and tape that onto the cardboard over where the two ends of the tape meet.   Like this: fireworks 5
  3. Put out the paint you want to use (I used Styrofoam trays and paper plates)
  4. Lay out paper
  5. Let the kids have fun
  6. You can add glitter over the paint or use clear glue to add the sparkle later (completely optional)

The bigger kids used a blow dryer to dry their art.

The end result is some great art to celebrate the festive spirit of the 4th!

I went a step further to make it a little more special and framed them. They are on display and add a little more fun to our day!

I hope that you enjoy this as much as we did.  This would also adapt well to a New Year’s Eve celebration.
